The elements of water and stone, frozen in a moment. A powerful stream cascades down, shattering into thousands of white splashes and foaming against ancient boulders. The dark hues of the stone and the rich greens of the forest emphasize the purity and strength of the rushing water. This work captures the hidden energy of the North, its wild spirit, and its irrepressible thirst for life. This painting is for those who love to feel the movement and rhythm of nature without leaving home.
The volume of the water is masterfully conveyed through dense, impasto application of paint and contrasting chiaroscuro. The detailing of the forest mass in the background creates depth and perspective. The work is executed in the best traditions of realistic landscape painting.
